Meet the Key West Killer Whales
The Key West Killer Whales are the Club's summer swim team; we compete in Division II of the Jefferson Swim League against other area teams. Children as young as 5 but no older than 18 on June 1, 2017 are eligible to compete in JSL meets. See Is My Child Ready for more information for first-time participants. Participants do not have to live in Key West nor do their families have to belong to the Key West Club. The regular season runs for approximately six weeks in the summer (from mid-June to the end of July), with pre-season after-school practices in May and early June as well. JSL offers a Championship Meet at the end of July at which all teams are invited to compete. All practices are held at the Key West pool, and swim meets take place at home and away. KWC also offers swim lessons every summer to adults and children alike, in private and group formats.
We are so pleased to have both Eric Switzer return for his FIFTH year of coaching the Killer Whales! To learn more about Eric and this year's Junior Coaches, go to Meet Our Coaching Staff.
If you have questions about your child joining the Killer Whales, please contact Claire Chantell at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will be using paper forms this year. You can download and print a form here or you can pick them up from Claire at 106 Vincennes Road. You can return the form and payment to Claire Chantell or you can put everything in an envelope and drop it into the locked Club mailbox at 393 Key West Drive (the mailbox is at the end of the pool road—it’s got a slot through which you can stuff envelopes, and because it’s locked it’s a pretty safe place to put money/checks).
2017 Swim Team Fees
Club Member 2+ Rate**
Swim Team Member*
Swim Team Member 2+ Rate**
(15-18 age group)
Please note: families who have 2+ children and a Senior Swimmer may take both discounts. In other words, your Senior Swimmer(s) should pay the Senior Swimmer fee no matter how many children you are registering, and if you are registering more than two children, one of them can take the 2+ Rate even if another of them is taking the Senior Swimmer rate.
*Swim Team Members enjoy a limited form of membership that gives the swimmer access to the pool facility for practices, meets, and other team events only. Swim Team Members are not permitted to bring guests to the pool.
** The 2+ Rate applies to the third, fourth, fifth, etc. children in a family--the first and second children pay the full rate, and each child thereafter pay the 2+ Rate.
